When you re trying to lose weight, not only is it far less effective to exercise without cleaning up your nutrition, its also counterproductive to becoming healthier and maintaining a healthy weight for life.
However, many people plateau at a certain weight and cant and shouldnt drop their calories any lower then where they re currently at. At this point it is best to start adding in some type of exercise program to begin to burn additional calories, increase their metabolism, and help to better metabolize certain foods they eat. (Ideally, you would include at least 30 minutes per day of exercise whether you’re looking to lose weight or not.)
