Which Cardio Machine is Right for You?

I want to help guide you to the right cardio piece for you.

In part 3 of my recommendation to switch to a new cardio machine when you have stopped getting the Which_cardio_machine_is_right_for_y results you used to from your old elliptical, I want to help guide you to the right cardio piece for you.

As I stated before, the elliptical machine is very low impact and easy on your knees and lower back so this makes it an excellent pick for any one with joint issues. It’s also a good idea to use the arm levers on the elliptical if yours comes with them. By using both your arms and legs you will burn more calories and get a better overall workout.

Now let’s talk about using the airdyne and upright bikes… both of these make great choices as inexpensive home workout equipment pieces and take up very little space. Biking allows you to use a lot of lower body muscle fiber, which in turn gets your heart rate pumping. One drawback to using a bike is that if you sit for most of the day and your hamstrings and hip flexors are tight, biking may only compound that issue. However, you can easily combat this tightness by including some stretching directly after your workout.

The last piece of popular cardio equipment I want to talk about is the treadmill. The treadmill is by far the most widely used and functional piece of equipment there is when it comes to getting in your cardio workouts. You can walk, jog, run, or sprint on them and even vary the incline. The treadmill also enables you to work on your posture and engage your muscles in a full range of motion in terms of stride length and proper muscle contractions. The downside to running on a treadmill is that if you have any joint pain, or improper alignment you may be setting yourself up for a more serious injury. But again, you can correct many alignment issues as well as certain joint pain through specific corrective exercises.

In the end, the absolute best piece of equipment for you is the one you’re actually going to use… So if you love a specific cardio machine and have tried others but just can’t seem to get into them, then stick with what works for you. Remember, variety may be great in terms of overall conditioning, but doing something is better than doing nothing at all.
